On the third day of lockdown, I ate five.
In one go.
We all know that chocolate is not the answer but I felt unbearably anxious. Everything felt so uncertain. For a couple of days, I really wobbled. I love my job at Psychologies magazine. Would it survive? I had just fallen in love with a new partner. Would our relationship survive? How would my son cope? How would my family cope? How would the world cope?
Then I remembered that although it's natural to feel scared in a crisis. I needed to stop worrying about the stuff I couldn't control and focus on the stuff I could.
As a coach and Editor of Psychologies magazine, I know that we do have control of our thoughts, beliefs and reactions.
And we also have control over the questions we ask.
I put the chocolate eggs down and started to ask better questions.
What if this crisis is a wake-up call, I asked? What if I can use this strange time to work more on my self development? What if I were to create a new version for my life?
Though my own journey, and from coaching hundreds of my own clients, I've discovered that asking better questions will completely transform your life.
Empowering questions will help you stop feeling powerless and anxious and help you get back on track, in control so you start creating a life that you really want.
